the story (II):

ok, so dani and i have told this story a few times, but the fastest and funnest way to share it is to blog it.  Part II is below.  For the crucial background information and tension building narrative, see part I on avraham's blog:

dani begs you to read part one first to truly appreciate the intricacies of part two.

-----

middle of the 3rd, dani's like "agh!!!!! go call." avraham jumps up and runs out of the room (after waiting patiently for the next commercial break), dani watches the game for two more seconds, then realizes she'd rather hear what he says to his paretns.

dani walks into his room, and he's on the phone saying "do you mind if we get engaged before you officially meet the weisses face-to-face?" grins at her. she bounces nervously... he wraps up with "ok, so don't stay on the line or anything, but don't go to sleep early tonight." the Official Response from the parents was "oh sure, go ahead, whatever you want," or something to that effect.

we start to giggle, and dash off down the hall to the kitchen, where after a short frantic search, dani finds a twistie tie. she hands it to avraham, and we dash back to his room. again, keep in mind that the living room door was open, and they must have seen/heard us running back and forth multiple times giggling like loons. yet, nobody suspected anything. also, by the way, ari weiss had left a few minutes before then and missed everything. avraham hands the tie back to dani, and she ties it around her finger (the ring's not ready yet), and then says "ok, what now?"

avraham drops to one knee, and begins to laugh, then says "will you marry me?" there were 14 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

dani laughs and says "oh god yes!"

then we both laugh. and dani asks avraham if we'll always be this romantic. he thinks for a second and says, "yeah, probably." after a night of burping and grossness. more laughter & giggling.

flurry of phone calls to the families (avraham's mother's response, "thats really great. wonderful," in a deadpan; dani's father's response, "are you joking or serious?"), and then to the guys in the living room (avraham called eddie and dani called elliot. unfortunately for dani, elliot wasn't in the room to answer his phone). from down the hall we hear a whoop and "dani and avraham just got engaged!" next thing we see is stampeding happy friends... and the night went from there.

MAZAL TOV! That story is SO typical 'you', Dani. Avraham, I don't know you yet but from the story, I can't imagine someone more perfect for her! Good luck dealing with engagement - married life is great! And from the sound of it, it'll definitely be a ton of fun for you guys. Just don't be one of those icky cheesy smushy pukey couples. So you'll be building your bayit ne'eman here...when? We'll be waiting! We must see you again soon - and meet your boy! So y'all come back now, y'hear? I miss you sooooooo much! And I'm SO happy for you! Be in touch, k? And obviously keep us posted about the big day - you never know when we might be able to drop by ;-) (Actually, we're planning a trip to N. America to hit weddings on June 6th and the 14th in Memphis & Toronto respectively. The 13th would be PERFECT! Go for it!)

Mazel Tov you 2! I just heard! I hope you are as happy (if not happier) as when I saw you at Penn.
