NYC - stupid city

my friend got busted last night.  she's an honor student on scholarship @ college, majoring in journalism, has been published in the jerusalem post.  she has a summons to criminal court.  she actually got busted and then almost got busted again for the same thing.

look, in her defense, it was ignorance of the law, not malevolence (as she said) that got her in trouble.

you have to see the humor here - she got busted for being in a park after 9.  when she and her other friend went back to check for the sign, a pair of cops pulled over to yell at them and they were like "no, it's all right, we already got busted"  of course, in true brilliant fashion, the issue was that they were sitting in a car in a parking lot outside the park, even though the lot was technically still open and in use for a tennis court farther down the street.  hanging out in a car in a parking lot is illegal, people.  don't make that kind of mistake.  parking there is ok, but you can not linger in your vehicle.

and thank God the cops are so vigilant about illegal activity in NY...  huge spotlight, "IDs, please".  i'm surprised they didn't call for backup.  "we have two unarmed jewish college students sitting in a car in a parking lot in queens.  request backup immediately"

This seems to be a trend in NY, busting Jewish students for doing nothing but being in a Park after dark... absurd!
    Really
