computer stories

as some of you might recall (and this is only if you know me or if you've actually been reading this blog since it started), i've had extensive problems with my computer and getting it fixed.

basically i've given up, and today is the first day that i'm using my old computer again.

oh, hard drive, how do i miss all the information you used to hold...

I take it you've looked into data recovery options (as distinct from repair)? Most data on a hard drive is not that easily lost (at least not irretrievably).

my hard drive was re-imaged. i.e. HP wiped it, re-installed windows, and then to top it all off, someone installed a bunch of outside programs on it.
which means that i don't know what's left on here, and to get recovery at this point would be very expensive for very little result. it also means i have to re-build my portfolio to graduate college.

Oy, sorry to hear that. You're probably right, but given the quantity and importance of the data, maybe at least get an estimate? I've heard and been privy to a number of data recovery "miracles."
