back from

we got back from an extended weekend at the lake last night.

we were talking about it a bit while we were there, but why is it that no one really warns you how hard the beggining stages of marriage are?

it would have been nice to at least have a head's up. i mean, we're not idiots, we knew it would be challenging, but everyone talks about it like it's the best years of their marriage, and i think they're smoking crack. they only love remembering it because they were younger and better looking then, i'm guessing.

i'm looking forward to a fwe years from now, when we're betting at communicating with each other, when we're better at intuiting what the other one is thinking, when we have a family and a house and more permanent feel to our life.

must make dinner, and we have nothing to eat. hee.

Didn't we all say at the sheva brachot how much work marriage is? And you thought we were just kidding? P.S. With a home and kids it doesn't get any easier--- just the opposite (but the grass is always greener ...)

You might have mentioned it, but we didn't believe you. I think it was because you were all somewhat tipsy. Now we know why...

Marriage requires work-even after 20 years. The myths of vorts and sheva brachas-which my wife and I didn't -have are really false myths. Life is temporary-make the best of the here and now.

i didn't mean to imply that you can just coast through. just that the communication gets more fine tuned, so the big huge issues of the first few years go away (and i'm sure are replaced by other stresses). i was just totally unprepared for the petty fights and immense capability for seriously hurting my partner's feelings.
    huge adjustment.
