Movie - This is Spinal Tap

Genre - Mockumentary Rockumentary
Stars - Rob Reiner, R.J. Parnell, David Kaff, Tony Hendra, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest, Harry Shearer
Key Points - Cucumbers, Combustable Drummers
Points to Ponder - Well, there's not  much to ponder here.  Just enjoy.  But feel free to sit back and laugh in the knowledge that people asked Rob Reiner why he didn't use a more famous band in the film...

Also to ponder: The bassist is the voice for many Simpsons characters, including Smithers, Mr. Burns, and Principal Skinner. In this movie we see that among his many talents lies the ability to grow amusing facial hair.

Also to ponder: When Spinal Tap was on tour, their alter-egos (The Folksmen, see "A Mighty Wind" for more on them) were boo'ed off-stage by the unrealizing crowd on several occasions. Dolts.
Fran Drescher said her voice in Tap was a faked voice she was told to put on to make her more attractive. It can be seen in several of her movies from the 80's, before she was a name brand.
Also, Harry Shearer is *really* short.
The thing about these movies that makes them so brilliant is that the actors have love and respect for the characters they're creating. It's never a mockery of a person or genre, it's always an alternative exploration of that world. Chris Guest hates the word Mockumentary for that reason; they aren't mocking anyone. This is easily seen in the later films, as hysterical as they are, that there's a truth to these people, and none of the hunor is made with a wink. They create real people instead of charicatures of real people/
